In the 1st and 2nd room of the Tokyo National Museum Heiseikan Special Exhibition Room, during the period from Tuesday 2 October (Tue) to December 9 (Sun) in 2018, the Tokyo National Museum \u00b7 Philadelphia Art Museum Exhibition Special Exhibition "Marcel \u00b7 Duchamp And Japanese art "will be held. <\/p>\n

I attended the exhibition held before this exhibition, so I will tell you how it is. <\/p>\n

Marcel Duchamp (France \u00b7 1887 ~ 1968) is a writer who rocked the values \u200b\u200bof traditional Western culture greatly and made a shocking influence on the art of the 20th century. <\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Museum of Art in Pennsylvania, USA has over 200 works, including Duchamp's paintings, sculptures and prints. This exhibition is the first opportunity for Du Shan's collection to be released in a form other than the Philadelphia Museum of Art and it is a very valuable opportunity to see it compared to Japanese art. <\/p>\n

This exhibition consists of two parts. In Part 1, we introduce a total of 152 works of Dushan's works, related materials, photographs, etc. from the Dushan Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, following the time series. In the second part, we introduce 24 Japanese artworks including National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties of the Tokyo National Museum and present common points with Dushan's creative activities seen in Japanese beauty. <\/p>\n

Part 1 Works with Duchamp <\/h3>\n

Chapter 1 Duchamp as a painter<\/strong> <\/p>\n

It was at the age of fifteen that Duchamp had started as a painter. I will work on various expression styles for ten years from then. I was able to follow the way the painter's style changed dramatically and I felt very interesting. Not only oil paintings but also related pictures are displayed, so we can see a glimpse of the connection between the real life of Duchamp and the work. <\/p>\n

Can you make a work that is not the second chapter "art"<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Duchamp is searching for art expression other than painting, and abandons ordinary painting production at the age of 25. From here Dushan's advantage is demonstrated. In order to challenge the Western art world that it is valuable for one-piece art work, we will begin to try to bring industrial items that are ready made (lady maid) mass-produced and sublimate it to art is. <\/p>\n

Chapter 3 Rose Ceravy<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Rose Ceravi is the name of a female personality that Duchamp invented as his own alter ego in the 1920s. Under this personality, I will present work that deals illusion and word play. The figure in which Duchamp was dressed as Rose Ceravie was photographed by photographer Man Ray (1890 – 1976), and those pictures can be seen in this exhibition. <\/p>\n

"A portable museum" that Duchamp will display its miniature copies of his work in a trunk. You can see an elaborate copy of the work being exhibited in this exhibition. <\/p>\n

Chapter 4 "Heritage" A woman in desire<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Dusyan who was dissatisfied with the closed artistic circles of his own country settled in New York later in the year and naturalized in 1955 to the United States. I felt surprised because I had the impression of being free, saying France. <\/p>\n

From 1946 in the United States secretly began to produce "remains work", completed over 20 years over the years. "Historic album" is a variety of materials, handled using different methods, is a masterpiece of Duchamp's culmination that has been searching for expressive ways without being caught in the genre. <\/p>\n

As Ducian himself wishes, "remains work" is currently permanently installed at the Philadelphia Art Museum. <\/p>\n

This exhibition introduces "artifacts" in images, and you can catch a glimpse of the process of production by displaying related materials including idea notes. <\/p>\n

Part 2 You can see Japan beyond Duchamp. <\/h3>\n

The second part consists of 5 chapters. After enjoying the work of Duchamp, looking at Japanese art from the viewpoint of "ready maid" and "original and copy", it may be possible to find new beauty. <\/p>\n
