Exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Japan and Finland <\/h3>\n

The National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo, June 18 (Tuesday) to September 23 (Mon. and Congratulations), "The 100th Anniversary of Japan-Finland Diplomatic Relations: A Modern Woman-Female Artists Who Painted Finnish Art" is held. <\/p>\n

In Finland in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the independence movement from Russia and the formation of a new nation born in 1917 changed the position and role of women in society. Even in the art world, Finland's first art school, established in the middle of the 19th century, was rare in Europe at the time, and has promoted gender equality art education since its inception. The women of this era were able to develop their career as an artist while gaining scholarships and opportunities to study abroad, while studying in an international environment. <\/p>\n

Highlights of this exhibition <\/h3>\n

This exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Finland, and is the first in Japan to focus on female artists who lived in Finland before and after independence and brought innovation to the country's modern art. This exhibition is based on the international circuit exhibition held in three cities in Europe and the United States by the planning of the Ateneum Art Museum in Finland, and has been restructured into the original content of Japan. The sculptor Sea Grid Ahu, who studied internationally with Helen Schalfbeck (1862-1946), who has gained global attention in recent years from the museum's collection, and studied Rodin in Paris, as well as an assistant to his representative work, Citizen of Curry.\u30fb Forsels (1860-1935) and other 7 female artists are presented in one hall. Please look at their various activities and achievements, who have pursued their own artistic expressions throughout their lives through about 90 works such as paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints. <\/p>\n
