Noren and sento picture drawn by Mari Yamazaki will start jacking Higashiueno's Kotobukiyu from April 23 (Friday)<\/span><\/h3>\n

BEAMS JAPAN Co., Ltd., which conveys the charm of Japan, and Milk Soap Kyoshinsha Co., Ltd. will hold a collaboration event "Sento Recommendation. 2021" that conveys the splendor of public baths.

\n As part of this event, from April 23, 2021 (Friday), the exterior, interior, and mural paintings of the public bath "Kotobukiyu" in Higashiueno, Tokyo will be displayed by Yamazaki, the creator of "Thermae Romae" and "Olympia Kyros". I will jack with the illustration of "Recommendation of public bath. 2021" drawn by Mari.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Public baths where local people and information can gather and heal the mind and body are scattered all over the country and have supported our lives. However, the number of public baths continues to decrease in the face of issues such as aging facilities and a shortage of successors as lifestyles change and the number of public baths continues to decline. "Recommendations for sento" was held from January to February 2019 as an event to convey how to enjoy sento in order to maintain the cultural value of sento.<\/p>\n

In the second installment, "Recommendations for public baths. 2021", the cartoonist and writer Mari Yamazaki, who worked on "Thermae Romae" and "Olympia Kyros", focused on the compatibility between sports and public baths. I drew it down. With the theme of exercise and bath, the design is a combination of 6 sports competitions (wheelchair basketball, sports climbing, throwing, surfing, judo, volleyball), bath tubs and hand towels.<\/p>\n

    \n Mizuki Tanaka, one of the few sento paint painters, was in charge of this sento painting. In addition, a curtain with the characters of the event title "Sento no Susume." Handwritten by Mari Yamazaki will be hung, and various other decorations inside the Kotobukiyu store will be changed to "Sento no Susume. 2021" specifications.<\/p>\n

    \n In everyday sento paintings, I often draw various colors while mixing them in a moment, but this time it was unusual to draw in black and white, which was interesting. It was a valuable experience to be able to draw a picture of the completed design by Mari Yamazaki, instead of the scenery of mountains and waterside that I always draw.<\/p>\n

    In addition, I was honored to be able to draw an athlete with an ancient Greek motif, which is typical of Yamazaki, at the time when sports attracted attention. Various people come to the public bath, so I hope that various stories will be born through this paint painting.<\/p>\n

    \n When I saw the illustration by Mari Yamazaki actually drawn on the sento picture of "Kotobukiyu", I felt that it was very novel, unlike the usual sento picture design.<\/p>\n

    I was hoping that there would be something I could do as Kotobukiyu when sports were attracting attention, so I am very happy to be able to publish a sento picture with six sports as a motif.<\/p>\n

    We will continue to do our best to be a place of relaxation for our neighbors.<\/p>\n
