This year marks the 11th anniversary of the creation of "Okachimachi Panda Plaza" in front of JR Okachimachi Station. Additionally, this year marks the 6th anniversary of the creation of the road that leads from Yushima Tenmangu Shrine (Yushima Tenjin) to Okachimachi, commonly known as the "Gakugaku no Michi", which is said to bring blessings for academic achievement. To commemorate these events, we will be holding an event called “Michimachi Tachigumi Thirty People,'' where you can experience a time travel back to the Edo period, only on November 5th (Sunday). There will be a "cleaning procession" in which 30 people dressed as Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu and his samurai group will parade and clean the streets of Ueno, an Edo period experience corner such as iaigiri and shuriken, an Edo period reenactment play and a ninja show, etc. A stage event is planned. This is a day where people from a wide range of generations can enjoy the Edo period to the fullest.<\/p>\n

Ueno\/Okachimachi has a deep connection with Tokugawa Ieyasu, which is attracting attention this year. In particular, Okachimachi is said to derive its name from the fact that many Okachi (adachi-shi), samurai warriors, lived there during the Edo period. Therefore, we held a “Joshi-gumi cleaning procession'' wearing the Edo period costumes and cleaning the “Gakaku no Michi'' and “Ueno Park,'' touring Ueno Toshogu Shrine and Yushima Tenmangu Shrine. It will enhance the atmosphere of the Edo period while purifying the streets of Ueno. <\/p>\n
