Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store Co., Ltd. signed a tripartite agreement with Taito Ward and Local Food Cycling Co., Ltd. (LFC) in June 2023 to shift to a circular lifestyle. As part of this, the three parties will jointly hold an experiential event called “Introduction to Circular Lifestyle” at Okachimachi South Exit Station Square (Okachimachi Panda Square) on Saturday, March 1, 2025. This event was started last year as a place to introduce a circular lifestyle to life. Approximately 5,000 people attended, and it was an event full of smiles. This is the second time the event has been held, and there will be even more notable food and circulation projects from Taito Ward! At the venue, there will be a “Marche” where food and miscellaneous goods from Taito Ward that practice resource circulation are gathered, a “Kids Flea Market” where children can learn about circular living through buying and selling things, an “LFC Lecture & Workshop” to learn about circular lifestyles, and Taito Ward and Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store will also be conducting “resource collection”. We will propose a sustainable lifestyle that everyone can enjoy and spread.

A market themed on “recycling lifestyles”

A marche will be held selling food, drinks, and miscellaneous goods from local Taito ward stores and businesses that are working on recycling, such as upcycling resources. Eco-friendly products such as gelato made from fruits and vegetables that were scheduled to be discarded, herbal tea made from Taito ward herbs grown in compost, woodworking goods, and upcycling craft kits, which were well received last time, will be lined up. In addition, five new stores will be joining this time, making a total of 14 stores. You can experience a “recycling lifestyle” that can be easily incorporated into your daily life.

Resource recovery

By bringing in items you no longer need, you will contribute to the efficient use of resources and the realization of a sustainable society.

<Daimaru Matsuzakaya “Think GREEN” Initiative>

Considering the current situation of various environmental problems such as global warming and frequent abnormal weather, Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store is working on “Think GREEN”, an activity that proposes sustainable products and services with low environmental impact.
