Background of the event
"Taiwan Festival™" is a unique Taiwanese event that began in 2014 with a one-tatami mat stage and the love of each individual for Taiwan . Since 2017, attendance has continued to grow, exceeding 250,000 in 2019, and finally reaching a cumulative attendance of 1 million, making it a pioneer in Taiwanese events .
In line with the "SDGs" (Sustainable Development Goals) that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been promoting since 2024, which focus on waste reduction and environmental considerations, the Taiwan Festival™ will also support Tokyo by adopting reusable cups that can be used, washed, and reused !
The theme for 2026 is "囍 (Double Happiness)," a celebratory Taiwanese wedding tradition.

In addition to engagement customs that differ from those in Japan, Taiwan also has interesting traditional wedding ceremonies that are unique to Taiwan. Although Western-style dresses are now mainstream, the dazzling traditional costumes remain very popular among younger generations, much like cosplay. The 2026 Taiwan Festival™ will showcase Taiwan by illuminating the venue in red, with the theme of Taiwan's wedding culture, "囍 (Double Happiness)."
