We are holding "Ueno Edo Clean-Up Operation," a family-friendly event themed around the Edo period, and "Ueno Edo Eco Challenge," where you can get drinks chilled by sunlight.
Looop Inc., which pursues new ways of living and energy with the vision of "realizing an energy-free society," will hold an environmental awareness event, "Ueno Edo Sustaina Day," in the Ueno/Okachimachi area on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th, as a voluntary community service activity by its employees. The event aims to raise environmental awareness among local residents through "Ueno Edo Clean-up Operation," a parent-child event where participants can pick up trash together with the performance group "Trash Picking Samurai," and "Ueno Edo Eco Challenge," where participants can receive solar-chilled drinks in exchange for recyclable waste.

In recent years, littering has become a problem in the Ueno area due to the increase in tourists*. In response to this problem, Looop, headquartered in the Ueno/Okachimachi area and aiming to realize a sustainable society, planned this event as a voluntary community service activity by its employees. This event is based on the concept of the Edo period, a time when the "Elekiteru," Japan's first electric generator, was a hot topic, and when a thorough recycling culture was deeply rooted. Through the refined spirit of Edo, which is also the "root of electricity" in Japan, we will provide a place where all generations can enjoy themselves while fostering awareness of a circular economy.

■ About "Garbage Picking Samurai"
This garbage-collecting performance group, clad in denim kimonos and wielding tongs as swords, carries out daily garbage-collecting activities with the slogans "Who are these people?" and "We will punish those with immoral hearts." The performances, incorporating authentic sword fighting techniques by the founder of Garbage-Collecting Samurai, Kazuki Goto, elevate garbage collection into entertainment. They also showcase sophisticated chambara (sword fighting) at events. Their samurai performances have gained immense popularity not only in Japan but also overseas. Furthermore, their activities have been recognized socially, and they have been appointed as Re-style supporters by the Ministry of the Environment, promoting the 3Rs (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce).
