OIL by Bijutsu Techo Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Mika Ninagawa. In this exhibition, we will exhibit a popular series entitled "earthly flowers, heavenly colors" and "FLOWER ADDICT" from among the photographic works of Mika Ninagawa's signature "flowers".
Ninagawa's work fascinates people with its unique colors and fantastic world view. The flood of vibrant colors was called "Ground Flowers, Heavenly Colors" by art critic Midori Matsui ("Mika Ninagawa Exhibition-Ground Flowers, Heavenly Colors" Catalog, Asahi Shimbun, 2008). I did. We ask what we see not only the beauty of nature, but also the feelings and desires of people embedded in man-made objects, and the beauty of the world.
In addition, "FLOWER ADDICT" is a series of photographs of the bright colors of white chrysanthemums that have absorbed colored water and their appearance. There is a strong desire for human beings to reshape the world at will, but at the same time, there is also an eye-catching beauty and luster that transcends it. Please take this opportunity to enjoy the photos of Nagikawa.
Photographer and film director. He has received many awards including the Kimura Ihei Award for Photography. Directed the films "Sakuran" (2007), "Helter Skelter" (2012), "Diner Diner" (2019), and "No Longer Human and the Three Women" (2019). He also works on many video works. In 2008, "Mika Ninagawa Exhibition-Flowers on the Ground, Colors of the Sky-" toured museums nationwide, mobilizing a total of 180,000 people. In 2010, published a photo book from Rizzoli NY, which became a hot topic all over the world. In 2016, he held a large-scale solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei (MOCA Taipei), which greatly broke the mobilization record of the museum. In 2017, he held a solo exhibition "Mika Ninagawa" in Shanghai, which was well received.
