The Geidai Art Plaza Art Award (formerly the Geidai Art Plaza Grand Prize) is an art competition for Geidai students held once a year by the Geidai Art Plaza. This year, as a new initiative, in addition to the grand prize and runner-up prize, we have newly established the “Shogakukan Award'' and “JR East Award,'' as well as created a digital art category. The prize-winning works of the fine art division (two-dimensional and three-dimensional) will be exhibited at the Ueno campus of Tokyo University of the Arts. • What is Geidai Art Plaza?

  • Geidai Art Plaza is a gallery that exhibits and sells works by faculty, staff, students, and alumni of Tokyo University of the Arts, which has produced many top artists. It is one of the valuable places on the Ueno campus of the University of the Arts that the general public can freely enter and tour throughout the year. It began operation in 2018 as a collaborative project between Shogakukan and University of the Arts.

Currently, exhibitions with different themes are held every one or two months. Each exhibition is attended by 10 to 50 artists, bringing together works expressed using a variety of techniques and approaches unique to Geidai, including oil paintings, Japanese paintings, sculptures, crafts, and design.

Inside the store, there is also a permanent work corner called “LIFE WITH ART,'' which focuses on art that is closely related to daily life, such as vessels and accessories, as well as bookshelves linked to special exhibitions. During the store's business hours, you can take a break with a cafe drink from the outdoor kitchen car "NoM cafe."

Admission to Geidai Art Plaza is free. In principle, taking photos and sharing on SNS are also welcome. We aim to be a place where everyone, not just art fans, can easily experience art.
