“Japan’s Largest” Book Event: “Ueno no Mori Parent-Child Book Festa 2026”

It will be held at Ueno Park in Tokyo for two days, from May 4th (Monday, public holiday) to May 5th (Tuesday, public holiday), 2026.

The " Ueno no Mori Parent-Child Book Festa 2026 " (organized by the Children's Reading Promotion Council, the Japan Children's Book Publishers Association, and the Publishing Culture Industry Promotion Foundation) will be held for two days, from May 4th (Monday, public holiday) to May 5th (Tuesday, public holiday), 2026, at Ueno Park in Taito Ward.
The "Ueno no Mori Parent-Child Book Festa" started in 2000 as part of the "Children's Reading Year" initiative, and has grown in scale year after year with the theme of "children and reading." This year marks its 24th edition.

Over 80 publishers exhibited at the venue, with approximately 40,000 picture books and children's books on display! Last year, approximately 34,000 people attended and about 32,000 books were sold.
At the sales booths, one of the attractions is not just the sale of books, but also the opportunity to choose books while talking directly with editors and sales staff. With author autograph sessions, picture book readings, and stage events that combine music, it is one of Japan's largest book events that the whole family can enjoy.
