Every year, the National Museum of Nature and Science holds a botanical illustration contest as one of the learning support activities to help people understand plants.
In the first year of Reiwa, the 37th year was celebrated, and 1,037 entries were submitted from all over the country. As a result of the examination, 83 award-winning works including 3 awards from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology were decided.
Selected works will be exhibited at Tsukuba Experimental Botanical Garden from Saturday, February 13th to Sunday, February 28th, 2021 at the Ueno Main Building from late June to mid-July 2021 at the Natural Education Garden. It is scheduled to be held from mid-September to mid-October 2021.

One piece per person, unpublished original work, paper size is B4 size or cut into eight pieces, thickness is within 5 mm, painting materials are free.

Total number of applications: 493 points for elementary school students, 383 points for junior high school and high school students, 161 points for general students (total 1,037 points)
Examination:
From the standpoint of botany, art, and education, the judges will conduct a comprehensive study at the National Museum of Nature and Science on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, based on the attention of observation, accuracy of expression, and artistic beauty. Elementary school students:
Until now, there have been observational record works of plants grown at school, but the decrease in such works may be due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. However, in such a situation, I am impressed that he observed and drew it well. As a trend in recent years, the number of bold and energetic works has decreased, but the diversity and individuality of the works are maintained. I hope that the children will continue to draw botanical illustrations.
