Tao, a brand developed by Comme des Garcons, will have a theme for its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, inspired by Moomin author Tove Jansson.
Tao will be releasing items inspired by the art of Tove Jansson, the creator of Moomin, as part of its Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The designer behind Tao Kurihara was inspired by Tove Jansson’s adventurous spirit, curiosity, passion for creation, and her independence and freedom. Her representative works, such as her 1940 self-portrait and a 1941 painting, are used as prints. The designs are combined with tulle and gingham check patterns to create a playful yet powerful design. In addition, special clothing and bags will be released featuring a character called “SNORK” that Tove drew next to her signature before Moomin was introduced. This item is a perfect match for the 80th anniversary of Moomin, with Tove Jansson’s work and the artistry of Tao perfectly blending together.
