The Shitamachi Museum, which has been closed since April 2023 for major renovations, has reopened under a new name, Shitamachi Museum. There is plenty to see, including a life-size exhibit of a lantern shop on the first floor, where you can actually enter the building and touch everyday items to experience the lives of people at the time.
Also, on the third floor, we will be holding a special exhibition called “What kind of town is Shitamachi?” until Sunday, June 29th, so please come and visit.
[About the Shitamachi Museum Opening Ceremony]

After Mayor Hattori’s opening remarks, “We will strive to make the new Shitamachi Museum an even more familiar and beloved facility, so we ask for your support and cooperation,” the grand reopening celebration was held, including a sake barrel opening ceremony and demonstrations of lion and Daikoku dances.
