“World’s Gourds Exhibition” is scheduled to be held from Sept. 15 to Dec. 6 at National Museum of Nature and Science. The first thing comes to mind when most people think about gourd must be just the unique, funny shape with wasp waist; however, this exhibition will tell you their versatility and history as tool that had already started prior to that of earthenware. Displaying gourds from all over the world, from the collection of Dr. Hiroshi Yuasa, the exhibition introduces you how gourds have been utilized by humans as container, art object, ritual equipment and in many other ways.
