For Japanese people, Renaissance is one of the popular themes of exhibitions, but often the work focusing on women is the main theme. However, it was male beauty that formed the basis of the ancient sculpture that the Renaissance art depended on. There are reasons for rarely having men's themes as exhibitions in the exhibition. It is Michelangelo that pursued the men's body most thoroughly in the Renaissance, because he embodies aesthetic sense is a sculpture work hard to borrow.
Beyond that high hurdle, this exhibition has come true. This exhibition compares the art of the ancient and the Renaissance from several viewpoints. Different age bodies, expressions of facial expression, athletes and warriors, gods and heroes. By comparison, we will clarify the features of both periods.
Highlight of this exhibition
About 40 points do not exist in the world
You can meet two of Michelangelo's marble sculpture masterpieces in Japan.
■ Beyond that "David statue", "David Apollo"
As the name suggests, it is Davide, Apollo, a piece wrapped in a mysterious veil. Powerfulness and elegance, dynamism and comfort, purity and discoloration. The perfect harmony is the beauty's place where Michelangelo finally got past the mid-50s.
■ Revival of miracles after restoration, "Young Baptist John"
A sculpture by Michelangelo that has only one point in Spain. Unfortunately, this work was seriously damaged by the Spanish civil war of the last century. It is a masterpiece of young Michelangelo, resurrected over many years of restoration.
