The 40th Ueno Toshogu Shrine Spring Festival

Starting with the latest varieties, such as “Zipang” and “Red Body Shine”, over 600 varieties of 110 species including the large stock from the time of its opening and rare green buttons will color the spring.

Ueno Toshogu Nobotan, which was opened in 1980 to commemorate Sino-Japanese friendship and to preserve the taste of Edo, is 110 species 600 during April 11 (Thu) to 12 (Sun), 2019. We hold spring botanical festival that more than stock colors.

The only peony that blooms upwards with yellow-yellow juvenile peony. You can enjoy it with a very elegant smell.

It is a very rare variety of peony with a pinkish orange petal. Each petal stands out and blooms upwards.

The button flower is considered to be a symbol of "Fugi", and is called "Fuyuka flower", "One Hundred Flower King", etc.
It is believed that Japan was introduced as a medicinal plant from China during the Nara period, and since the Edo period, cultivation has become active and numerous varieties have been created. In Chinese literature, since Sheng Tang (early 8th century), it has been popularized in poetry, and in Japanese literature it has been described in many haikus as seasonal words and is a flower that has been popular as a painting, a pattern, and a family crest.
