Daimaru and Matsuzakaya set the stage for four art projects | “Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021” will be held at Matsuzakaya Ueno Store & Future Standard Research Institute (* 1)

Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store will carry out four art projects at the international art festival "Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021" in collaboration with the general incorporated association Tokyo Biennale. During the exhibition period, the works of the Tokyo Biennale will be exhibited and events will be held at both the Matsuzakaya Ueno store and the Future Standard Research Institute (* 1). At the Matsuzakaya Ueno store, works will be exhibited in front of the entrance on the 1st floor of the main building and in the hall, and participatory events will be held on the roof. In addition, the Future Standard Research Institute will also have an information center function such as providing project information for the Tokyo Biennale, redeeming tickets, and selling goods, and will be open to the public.

The Tokyo Biennale is an international art festival held every two years in the city of Tokyo. We aim to create a new art festival where writers and creators from a wide range of genres from all over the world gather in the city of Tokyo, deeply enter the city, and work with local residents.

• Tokyo Alps "Rooftop Biraki"

The Tokyo Alps is a project group consisting of Takayuki Shukunobe, Akiko Waki, Atsushi Nakano, Hirokazu Hongo, Shinya Katsumada, and Akira Nonaka. We will hold a participatory event where you can climb the rooftop of Tokyo as if it were a mountain and go up to the rooftops of various facilities. The experience of a participant who was not usually aware of the rooftop of the Matsuzakaya Ueno store going up to the rooftop for the first time is an extraordinary space for that person.

• Fiona Amundsen “Breathing Taken”

Fiona Amundsen is an artist from and living in New Zealand. This project combines the three elements of "Rakugo," "Filmmaking," and "Zanshin," and explores a methodology for not forgetting the history of Japanese imperial warfare that forms modern society.
