Hotel Resol Ueno (7-2-9 Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo), a tourist hotel under the Resol Hotels brand operated by Resol Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture; President and CEO: Naoto Sano), will be holding a special exhibition of five works by artist Yoko Sekine in the art gallery in the living lobby, Resol Gallery Ueno, from Thursday, August 1st to Saturday, August 31st, 2024.

"Rendezvous I" and "Rendezvous II" (2022)

“Rendezvous I” and “Rendezvous II” (2022)

As part of Hotel Resol Ueno’s efforts to create a hotel rooted in the Ueno area, where art and the downtown area coexist in harmony, the hotel began an initiative in February this year to use the art gallery in the living lobby, Resol Gallery Ueno, as a place to create opportunities for encounters between up-and-coming artists who will be spreading the culture of the future and traveling guests. Since then, the gallery has been enjoyed by not only guests but also the general public as a place to come into contact with the sensibilities and works of up-and-coming artists.

The fourth artist, Hiroko Sekine, graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts Master’s Program. After graduating, she was featured in the National Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 1988, was recommended as an associate member of the Kokugakai in 2007, and was recommended as a member of the Kokugakai in 2012. She currently holds solo exhibitions at venues such as Ginza Gallery Azuma. In addition, last year in 2023, she held the “FU-FU Exhibition” with her husband, Koji Ogawa, and is currently active as a lecturer at Yokohama Seifu High School.

The works on display this time include “Rendezvous I” and “Rendezvous II” (2022), which combine two panels to form a single painting, as well as “Summer Bouquet” (2023), “Flower Camellia” (2023), and “Vermilion Hydrangea” (2023), all of which feature striking, colorful flowers.

At Resol Hotels, we will continue to weave irreplaceable travel stories through hotel operations that thoroughly meet the needs of all travelers (tourists).
